6/9 Quarterly Partnership Meeting

Thank you all for that attended our June Quarterly Meeting!

Setting BayICT Partnership priorities for 2022-2023 was the focus of the June 9, 2022, quarterly meeting. The reorganization of the BACCC required that each sector seek advisory input. While attendance was low (21 registrants, 11 participants), the Partnership was well represented by employers, industry, workforce development, and college partners.

The BACCC’s Regional Priorities were shared, followed by how the ICT-DM sector team framed its priorities to meet the region’s goals to support

  • Subregional Collaboration and Coordination
  • K-14 to Career Pathways
  • Faster Response through Workforce Development Partnerships & Short-term Training
  • Collaboration & Coordination in Critical Occupations, Skills, Occupational Clusters and Sectors
  • Career Services, Work-Based Learning, and Apprenticeships
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

The figure below shows the 4 focus areas for the ICT-DM sector team and the work underway and planned.

The activities were described and the discussion that ensued sought to prioritize the work under each category. Beyond what was listed above, participants added the following:

  • More needs to be done to build K14 ICT and DM pathways.
  • In the ICT side of the sector, employers expect entry-level employers to have as many industry certifications as possible. Therefore, programs must include preparation for taking these exams and the financial support to pay for them. “We need to double down” on this approach.
  • Workforce development organizations look to the BayICT Partnership for collaborations seeking state and federal funding to support their training and job creation efforts.
